Well, my butterfly flower containers are working wonderfully! Yesterday I got to see my first "wild" Gulf Fritillary! 
I had photographed one at the New York State Zoo at Thompson Park in the butterfly house two summers ago, but it was not a native species.

Stunning, beautiful pictures! And Eve I love to type and say fritillary...I am learning so much and finding so many things to be excited about! A Gulf Fritillary! I looked for butterfly books today in the big City and a new bird book for just Missouri birds.
Thanks all! RR I love the Kaufman Focus Guide Butterflies of North America for learning the butterflies. I mark the pages of the butterflies in my area and then check them off. I also (try to) keep a desktop calendar and write down the birds I see. Star them as they first arrive for the season. Which will be much different down here! It's a fun thing to get into. And I still get tongue tied on Fritillary!

Great captures! The Gulf Fritillary was the first butterfly that I was able to get really close to and get a good photo of with a digital camera- probably back in 1999 or 2000- it is a really gorgeous butterfly.

Love your photos. I've seen lots of Great Spangled and Diana Fritillaries here...but have yet to see a Gulf Fritillary.
Oh Eve, what a beautiful butterfly! Not sure I've ever seen one in person. Maybe at the butterfly farm but that's it. Just gorgeous!
