I'm a little FREAKED out

Who needs a silly holiday when your husband does sweet things for you at any time of the year!
We took a two hour drive to Rider's Harley Davidson in Trussville, Alabama yesterday, and they pulled this baby out of the box just for me. Believe it or not, my hubby found just what he was looking for too!
They sent a fellow to pick up our rides for trade.

I can't believe I'm saying goodbye to my good buddy that brought lots of smiles, but I'm excited about my new adventures ahead!

Something Different

It's getting to be that time of year when thoughts of warm summer days and curvy roads float aimlessly about my head. While living up north I always knew it would only be a matter of time before my best bud Deb and I would steal away, with our without our husbands, and ride to distant lands for lunch and adventure. If you remember I wrote about Debby before in http://sunnysideup-eve.blogspot.com/2008/03/my-second-favorite-place-to-be.html
I've found a few new motorcycle blogs lately and the two I look forward to visiting are Mike at "Been Riding and Thinking" http://ridingandthinking.blogspot.com/ and Kari at "Bluekat's Journeys" http://bluekat78.blogspot.com/
I thought I'd post a series of photos from my past as I think about my best friend in the world, Debby, and remember our wonderful years together on our bikes.
This is one of the newer photos of my 2004 Katana after my husband and I lowered it and gave her a new sleeker rear end. (Just what I need!!)Deb and I both had 250cc motorcycles before we got our big bikes. This is her beautiful Sportster 883 Low, which has since been beefed up to a 1200 with a conversion kit her husband surprised her with for Christmas a few years ago.
Deb getting ready to take her bike home.I never brought my Canon DSLR with me on the bike but when I got my G9 I would bring it, when I didn't get too excited and forgot it!
Our trip to Salmon River Falls NY 2008.Alexandria Bay NY 2007.Deb and I went on a few Poker Runs without our husbands but really enjoyed it when they when with us.See! It's a girls bike!!My husbands Sportster and my Katana. The next 4 photos were taken by Glenn Wagner, a good friend of mine, who was photographing during the Fat Boys Toys for Tots Ride we participated in, 2006.
It's not often you get to see yourself riding!! I've got my serious riding face on!Debby you look SO COOL!!!Looks like I'm leading the pack here! How'd that happen!!Best buds posing for the photographer! Thanks Glenn!!
And lastly this is a self-portrait I made back in 2005.I think I look pretty "BAD" don't you think!!
I miss you Deb!
Hope it won't be long before we can take a riding holiday together!

The Time Has Come!

I have been dreaming of this day for some time now. Yes, school begins tomorrow! It has been a long time since I've been able to hop upon my "other sweet ride" and just enjoy the country roads. It's been a wonderful summer with Morgan on our outings, but it's time for all smart kids to get back to work! But first I must get back to reality and remember that before I just let lose and ride away I must:
Feed the dogs
feed the birds
water the flowers
fill the fountain
make the bed
do the dishes
do the laundry
vacuum
get the groceries
mow the lawn
wash the motorcycle....
Reality can be a tough pill to swallow!!

Nap Time

Last week was just beautiful. Temps warm enough to ride. I wish I had taken more of an opportunity but sometimes there are just too many things to do and I spent most of my time working indoors. I did, however, get out on the bike on Tuesday for a little bit and Saturday we washed the bikes getting them ready for their winter nap. So I've come full circle this year, and looking back I had a few very memorable rides! Til Spring my friend!

Off on the Katana...

Well it was another beautiful day in the North Country yesterday, so I jumped on my Katana and rode out to Clayton, NY via Cape Vincent. The St. Lawrence is so beautiful any time of year. I strapped my new Canon G9 around my shoulder, covered it with my jacket and hoped it would survive the trip and of course, it did. This is at Frink Park in Clayton, looking out over Grindstone Island. The wonderful thing about the G9 is that it is a 12mp camera that can shoot in Raw but is the size of the little compact digital cameras that fit so easily in a pocket.
Then it was off to Alexandria Bay to a park overlooking Heart Island, home of Boldt Castle. This picture has been run through a plug-in filter in Photoshop.

Another shot of Boldt Castle.
I came home and found a beautiful daffodil in my garden so here is another filtered work.
Next time I'll try to remember to take a picture of my "trusty steed"!!

Rocks and Bikes....

This weekend was the one that we've all been waiting for here in the north country!!! My daughter Morgan talked me into going for a walk in the hard to get to part of our property. We were like early settlers blazing a trail! We spied a turkey vulture looking for leftovers.... And to our surprise, trespassers decided to leave us two presents...we figured anything on our property is ours!!! They can have them back if they come ask us for them!!! Ha Ha!! Anyone have any idea why someone would dig a 3' deep hole and leave it??? It must have been there all winter. Morgan tried to imitate the vulture!!!
We have so many rocks on our property.
Some of them have holes in them......
and some have hands growing out of them!!!!! Ahhhhhh and the bike got fired up and I'm going riding tomorrow!!!
