My yard is just FULL of Dragonflies. Which is just fantastic because they are one of my favorite things.
I am having a time identifying this guy. Dragonflies can be very difficult to identify with some species that need a real expert in a lab to do the job.
I am having a time identifying this guy. Dragonflies can be very difficult to identify with some species that need a real expert in a lab to do the job. I'm going to go out on a long limb here and say this could be a Twin-spotted Spiketail.
But I really think they should have called it the "Mean-faced Follow-the-Arrows".

What a beauty! Thank you for this post. I've never really examined a dragonfly before...they're too fast. I had no idea there were so many different types, although I did know that there are some on the verge of extinction. Maybe you have a dragonfly haven there!

Steve he was easy...there's a blue one that dive-bombs me everytime I get into his territory...I can't find him stopped to rest anywhere!!!
