ABCD with Thoughts and Prayers

Many of you know about, and some of my good friends have experienced some of the, possibly the worst, storms in the history of the south. My family was extremely fortunate to have made it through the devastation without damage. My mom's town of Guntersville had a huge hit but she was safe in her little apartment.
We here on the mountain heard "the train" and saw debris fly over the house...well, I was actually in the tub with Morgan and Daisy Lu, but my husband saw debris fly over the house when he told us to take cover. We got our power and water on the 4th day after the storms. There are many without power, water, homes. Many have lost loved ones. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those who's lives have been sidetracked and our big THANK YOU goes out to all those who have stepped up to help in many ways.
THANK YOU!!!
I wanted to join my friend Gary at USA Tour on a Harley Davidson with his ABCD (a bloggers centerline day) Challenge. As you can see below the weather today doesn't look very nice. I am somewhere in that red dot and am not sure I want to venture too far from home. So I decided to find a centerline very close to home...
My driveway!
I thought this would be a fairly easy task but deciding I would do this on my own it became a challenge. Especially when Daisy Lu came to help. My timer on the camera was set for 10 seconds and it was quite a hike. I wanted to get a little bit of storm debris there in the foreground.
I thought wearing my Harley cap would help.
Ok now Daisy...no one needs to see THAT!!
Come on girl!!
She was not thrilled to be in the shot at all. But I had to laugh the whole time!
Well for what it's worth, here is my set up for the photos. A little upside down flower pot to hold the camera. Running out to the bike was such a joy!
And of course I had to add an artsy photo for all my gardening pals!

Gary you made my day!

So glad you are alright!! I've got so many friends to worry about, so far it's all been good news.

As to the photo for Gary, we will probably have to opt out. It's been raining since 7am with no sign of a let up. Sigh...

We had hoped to do something similar to you...paint a centerline in our new driveway (gravel) and stage our photo. LOL!

Good luck, you've got our vote!!

I had a good laugh while looking at your set of pictures. Good that your spirits are up despite the horrible storms. I am glad that you and your family remained relatively unscathed.

Fabulous setting for the photos Eve and the 883 looks fantastic in black. I have happy memories of Alabama, having had a spell at International Paper's Riverdale Mill west of Montgomery in the 90's.

All the very best...

This was a great idea, and the last picture was perfect.

Sad for all the folks over there directly affected by the storms.
I dearly love Alabama and have many fond memories of summers down on my Grandmothers and Uncles Farms in Shelby County. What a good time those were. They're all gone now so I don't know if or when I'll ever be back.

It is hard to believe the devastation in Alabama and glad you are all OKay, and you still managed to come through with a centre-line photo. I can't imagine how many times you had to run back and forth using that self-timer. Makes me smile

I'm so glad you are okay. I thought of you when I was watching the weather before our power went out. My son was at his gf's dad's house at Gunter's Landing. He said the house shook. No power. After that storm passed and there was a safe driving window, they came here to Huntsville, only to have to sit out the others that came through about every 1-2 hours, then we lost power around 4:30. Glad it's over.

Thanks everyone!

And yes Bobskoot!! I had to run back and forth for each picture and Daisy would get right in the way of the camera! I laughed and laughed!!

So glad you are OK too Bunnits! It was and is tough to manage through it. We are very thankful to be back on the path to normalcy!

Sweet Eve, we here in Maine are so relieved to know you and your family are safe and sound. Our hearts do go out to those who were less fortunate. Now you could always move to Maine, there is a house for sale next field over!!!LOL Love the photos, Miss Daisy is such a ham, must run in the family. Stay safe!

I had to laugh, too, at you running back and forth to get the best shot. I love your little helper... Daisy is a real cutie!

I'll let you know when we can get back up to your neck of the woods. It would be great to grab lunch!

Good luck... may the best photo win!

Hi Eve. We have been watching the TV broadcasts of the devastating weather and wondered how you might be coping. So glad to hear that you and all the family are safe. FAB.

Hi Eve,
So glad to hear you and your family are safe. I thought about you when hearing about the storms, but didn't know where you are exactly. I would say debris going over the house constitutes as being "too close"! Best to you and yours, and thoughts and prayers to everyone hurt by this devastation.

I like your photo choice. I love the gravel road and the grassy centerline! But Daisy takes the prize! She has a beautiful little doggy butt! :) What is they say...if you got it, flaunt it!

Canajun said...

Nice pictures. Your centerline looks kinda like mine - except for the Daisy part. :)

The weather has been terrible this year and while we had a bad (for us) windstorm last week, our hearts are with those in the US who really took the brunt of it. Glad you and yours are okay.

So glad that you all OK! I watched on the TV and was horrified by all the damage! We were also lucky and didn't get anything but strong winds and some limbs down. Some of friends were not so fortunate.

Finally home WITH POWER as of today and glad you are all safe, my friend! Love your photos. I'd planned to participate and ... well ... you know why I couldn't! XO!

Eve, I am so glad you are safe! We had a small amount of debris come down at our place. Lou found a torn page of a Bible!

I love that the centerline is the strip of grass down your drive. And the shots of Daisy made my day. Sorry, but she upstaged the Harley!
