This weekends weather in northern Alabama was just fantastic! The sun was warm, the sky bright and it felt like things would be changing for the better. Now I know that is silly thinking but I wanted to get out when I had the chance and fiddle in the yard. I just love this rustic trellis that was in one of the back fields. It used to have a clematis growing on it but no longer does. And I just happened to have a clematis that had nothing to climb on, so a move was in order.
It was an easy dig and was finished in no time.
On to the bat house. I purchased this bat house at Lowe's on sale but didn't notice that it was cracked and well kind of falling apart. So we nailed it together and caulked the crack and hope that it will hold up for a while. We're still planning on building one but just haven't gotten to that yet!
Oh and I guess the...either squirrels or raccoons are back. They are just causing all kinds of trouble in the night!
It was a bit foggy today but the rain held off til this evening and it was warm enough to get out and enjoy the day for a little bit.
There's nothing like a green moss covered rock and the hint of a Rose Campion to make your day!
To all my friends in the northeast and central states...STAY WARM!
I hope you're prepared for the snow that's on the way.

Eve, I can't stop giggling when I see your armadillo running!
Well Lynne, I'm very glad it makes you laugh! A one in a life time shot me thinks!!!
Love the old trellis. It's going to be lovely when the clematis blooms.
A sunny day in the garden makes Winter go by more quickly. Planning what you will do and straightening things up is so satisfying.
I would blame the raccoons for the tipped over birdbath. They're little rascals. It would have had to be a whole herd of squirrels working together to take that metal birdbath down.
If you find another old trellis lying around, send it my way. I love that one.
Lovely post! That trellis is gorgeous and I hope you'll post pics when the clematis is blooming madly all over it. Oooh, do you love bats, too? They will love a south-facing wall or tree, at least 10 feet up from the ground is what I read when I was researching bat houses about 5 years ago. Though, now I have plenty of bats who love my barn attic, so I don't really think about bat houses anymore. lol
Rose Campion! That's something I don't have in my farm garden yet...so pretty.
That's a great piece of imaginative thinking putting a clematis there Evie. Its going to look lovely when its grown and in flower.
I am jealous, I haven't seen the ground in so long. snow is on the way
Great pics of the green Eve! It is a nice change from the white and gray of wintery MN.

Do love the re-purposed trellis! I can't wait to see if you get bats in your house. We have been contemplating it for years since we see bats fly along a corridor at the side of our property. However, our neighbors put one up a few years ago and they only got bees & wasps building their nests in it. So we put our plan on hold. I hope you have better luck. Do you have a special pole you will put it on or attach it to a tree?
Eve, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend! I was out planting in the woodland garden, about 40 plants in all, including shrubs and shade loving perennials. So much work to do in the garden, and I already feel behind! I was hoping to get more done today since I was off work, but the weather was awful. Cleaned out my bathroom cabinet instead.
P.S. Thanks for your kind comment on my 'Fire in the Wild Woods' post. I am looking forward to your visiting my garden when things are green and blooming. I would love to see yours, too!
I love clematis. I tried growing it on my balcony but it didn't do well in a pot, unfortunately. I also love bats although I've never seen one up close. And, mossy rocks. All good stuff!
Evis I been a bad blogger but I am getting around to blogs this morning. Hope your weather is better. We still have snow here. Lots of snow. And COLD. Love this post and your pictures of thoughts ahead. Gotta think ahead to Spring or I'd be going nuts! The last shot makes me smile this morning :)
I think the clematis will grow perfectly there. Also, that armadillo is hilarious
Can't wait to see the Clematis blooming on that trellis! What a great place for it. You are looking real spring-like already. I bet it was a raccoon....mine are up and about :-(
