Almost Forgotten Photos...

I took these picture on Feb 2 after another one of our lovely snow storms. The driveway had filled in and I decided to get a little exercise...rather than pay the plow man. The wind had been blowing...as usual...and because of all the bright white landscape, it took me some time to notice that mother nature was having a little fun building snowballs!
At first I jumped in fear thinking that these were little critters from outer space in my yard.
Then I realized just what I was looking at. The more I looked the more I found......and the field that had big hay rolls, had mini rolls of snow! I had to do some work on these pictures just so you could see the white on white balls. The pictures are not good but, I thought you would like to see them anyway.
Clicking on the pictures will give you a little better view.

Eve,
Lol, these are pretty cool pictures..I have never seen these snow ball creations before..those must have been some intense winds you had with that storm!!
You "gotta" be looking forward to moving south..sooo much snow and cold in your area this winter !!

That's just freaky Eve! I've never seen anything like that either and I've seen a lot of snow. Glad you captured it for us! Wild!

That's amazing Evie, never seen nothing like it before. Pretty strong winds to cause it I should think. Glad you didn't get blown away.

WOW! I read about this when I was a little kid in Vermont and always wanted to see this for myself. This is such a rare even, you are so luck to see this. Conditions have to be ~just~ right.

Thanks guys...if only I was a better photographer to catch this. I was to say the least tired and generally sick of seeing snow, but it did bring a smile to my face to see something so rare.

Intersting photos, I've never seen anything like that. I enjoyed your earlier pics too, I can't believe all of your snow is gone. We still have over three feet left on the ground.

Looks like Alien droppings to me.

Never seen or even heard about anything like that before. Do you know what caused it?
It is beautiful and strange looking.

Wow....glad you found and posted these! I've never seen snow rolled up in little "haybales" before! Nifty!

Oh wow, how unique and exciting! What do you mean your pictures aren't good?!? I especially love the last one, which looks decidedly like a massive migration of sentient snow-crystals over the landscape of an alien world, under a brooding sky. It's very artistic with an almost forlorn poetic feel, actually. What a fascinating phenomenon!

That is one weird phenomenon (I had to type that slowly) Evie! Had to agree that the last pic is eerily great!

That's very bizarre. Fun too, though.

What an interesting phenomena. Now if they were in an intricate design like you get crop circles, I think I'd start heading for the shelter ;)
