What's Blooming...

I'm still very hard at work in my new gardens. I've got about 52 plants arriving on Wednesday. A few of the plants I ordered were canceled due to problems with the supplies but that is to be expected every now and then. This will just leave me with time to rethink and pick some bulbs to bring early color to my beds in the spring! This little Fern Peony, one of three, is somewhat of a surprise in one of my older beds. I'm not really sure where it came from and this is the first year they have blossomed! I have two crab apple trees that are a highlight of my yard.
I'm also very excited about the two Liberty Apple trees that although young yet are loaded with flowers this year! I had some wonderful birds arrive this weekend, including a ruby-throated hummingbird (on Mother's Day) and my rare Clay-colored sparrow out in the "back 40"! I am hoping to do a post on the birds on my property as soon as I get time to go get photos.

Lovely Apple blossom Eve, great photos as well.

I understand from research that the Liberty Apple is a sweet eater.

Do you make crab apple jelly?

I am not going to say any wise cracks about 'Apples' and 'Eve' though!!

The blossoms are slowly starting to bloom around here. The reflection in the frogs eye, on todays post, is just a plant not a tripod. I was lying on the ground with the camera set there so I didn't need a tripod but I did use my reflector. It was propped up by a stick to the right of the photo, good thing the frog was cooperative.

Ha Ha!!! Well that's my first Eve joke on my blog!!! Good one!

I bought the Liberty Apple because the tag said it was pretty trouble free...I will be very excited to actually try the apples because I've never seen any sold here. The trees are only about 5-6 feet tall right now so don’t know if they will bear fruit. I haven’t see any snakes around them so.....maybe not yet!
Haven't tried crab apple jelly yet either!! I'm planning on doing more home canning soon so I'll put that on my list of things to try!!

Thanks for stopping!

Well John it really is a beautiful shot. I saw a frog at my pond the other day with similar color. I just didn't have my camera!! A photographer's worst mistake.

Your apple tree blossoms look great, and I especially like the way you composed the Peony. Your comment on the ruby-throated is very interesting. Mother's Day, for the past twenty-one years we’ve been in this home, has always been the day they appear at our feeder. Yesterday was no exception. At 10:00am we had one hovering in front of the kitchen window, unofficially announcing their return, with an additional bonus appearance by the Orioles.
