Yesterday...

It's a busy time of year now that things are warming up. I went to pick up a couple bluebird houses to put at my pond. I hope to get the bluebird that stopped last year only to find all the houses were taken by tree swallows. This year I'm prepared. On the way home I stopped at a marsh and took some pictures to share. This one is cattails put through a filter in photoshop.... A song sparrow welcoming spring....
And the trees just beginning to bud.

Wow, nice shots, Eve! Oh, I can't wait for you to post some shots of your bluebirds. My son and I were just having a discussion about bluebirds the other day. He told me he saw one and I told him it was, most likely, a scrub jay instead, since bluebirds aren't native to our area. It will be fun to show him a real one!
Love the effects you used.

Meanwhile, it's so cold here, I had to don my long underwear under my jeans again yesterday, just to be able to work outside in my garden for a while. sigh. Brrrrr...

Love the look of the cattails with photoshop. Kind of an abstract nature, very effective.

FYI, I'll be posting photos in the near future from a kayak trip that John and I took off the Maine coast to a place called Little Whaleboat Island. Hopefully that will peak your interest in kayaking.

Hi Danni,
You should get the Western Bluebird, which is quite similar to the Eastern. It says they live in "semi-open areas, including pine woods, oak woods, streamside groves, ranch country, sometimes in pinyon-juniper woods, but avoiding hot dry regions". So keep your eye out!! It also says they will nest in boxes, like the eastern here. I know the Eastern like to have their houses on a mowed field and love to sit on fences to spy their food crawling on the ground. So if you have an area like that...put up a box and see what happens!!! I'm not going to spoil the surprise but....I'm glad I got my bluebird houses yesterday!!!! Check back tomorrow!

I hope it warms up!!!

Thanks Mike! Can't wait to see the photos!
Have you been off the coast of Long Island, ME? I spent many summers there and still have realitives there. We used to go to the beautiful white sand beach that overlooked Vaill Island. I'm planning one or two trips out this summer. I can't wait to go back there again.
