Off on the Katana...

Well it was another beautiful day in the North Country yesterday, so I jumped on my Katana and rode out to Clayton, NY via Cape Vincent. The St. Lawrence is so beautiful any time of year. I strapped my new Canon G9 around my shoulder, covered it with my jacket and hoped it would survive the trip and of course, it did. This is at Frink Park in Clayton, looking out over Grindstone Island. The wonderful thing about the G9 is that it is a 12mp camera that can shoot in Raw but is the size of the little compact digital cameras that fit so easily in a pocket.
Then it was off to Alexandria Bay to a park overlooking Heart Island, home of Boldt Castle. This picture has been run through a plug-in filter in Photoshop.

Another shot of Boldt Castle.
I came home and found a beautiful daffodil in my garden so here is another filtered work.
Next time I'll try to remember to take a picture of my "trusty steed"!!

The best scenery is sometime right there at home.

Hey 'for the people'! Nice to meet you. There is no greater service that I can think of than to be a solider or police officer! I wanted to be both but missed the opportunity. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time.
Have a great day!

Hey Eve,

I was wondering what the G9 would be like as I was thinking of replacing my compact digital.
I can se that it produces great results.

Hi Roy! Thanks for asking! I am a real Canon fan so when it came to the pocket size camera that was the way I wanted to go. I'm pretty happy with it because it has a large screen on the back...3" and a view finder as well. As far as how well it compares to other small digital cameras...it's hard for me to tell, because it is my first. (I have a Canon Digital Rebel and a Canon 5D). I've had a few problems with the camera but it wasn't the camera's fault...I was to blame for not having my settings right. So, I'm very happy with it. It has manual settings as well as many automatic. It's 12MP and shoots in RAW. Do your homework and look around. If you have any more questions, please ask.

Eve,

Thanks for the info on the G9. From what I have seen it looks about the best Compact. I have the Canon 350D. (Which is Rebel XT, I think)
Yes my Profile photo is considerably more up to date than the previous!

Hi Eve, thanks for stopping by my blog. I followed your link back here,.. I always love the river, Alex Bay and Clayton,... last spring I went down to Tibbets Light near Cape Vincent. I"m always looking for a reason to spend time on the western edge of the North Country!

Hi Cedar! Tibbets was always a must go every year...mostly on the motorcycles. It was just up the road a spell. Beautiful homes and a beautiful view. I guess Wolf Island is covered up in Wind Turbines now...I left before I ever went to see that. Not the view it used to be. I'll stop back to enjoy your mountain views soon.
