It's the little things in life...

I really should go on bugguide.net and look this little guy up, but my computer has an issue and keeps freezing up anytime I want to do something important. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this fellow is a type of fly that is pretending to look like a bee for it's own self preservation.
Pretty smart if you ask me!
Update! I checked with buggide and it is a Syrphid Fly! This website is awesome and the folks there are quick...I got an answer in less than 3 minutes!

We do think alike, heh heh, although this is a real daisy which I haven't photographed yet. This is a very nice photo. I love the out of focus pink background.

And are there bees who disguise themselves as flies? What would the point be to that, I guess...Beautiful shot, Eve!

That's just about as lovely as anyone could ever hope for.

Great image Eve. This looks like little bug that my mom always called news bee when I was a little girl. they would come buzz, and hover by you, She always said they were bringing good news... thanks for the wonderful photo and memories.

Eve,

The background colour really sets this off and the clarity of the primary object (the Fly) is perfect.

I love the way flies that pretend looking like bees fly 'freezing' in the air. Although I don't remember if syrphid fly does the same. Anyway your capture looks nice and the colors look sweet.
