DeSoto State Park Alabama

Sunday morning I asked my hubby..."what do you want to do today?"
"absolutely nothin" was the answer...
"do you want to go for a ride?" I ask.
The next thing I know we are packed and ready to go, but where?
I never asked until we were heading down the road that had the sign,
DeSoto State Park
What a beautiful ride!!

With so many pictures I'll let some of them speak for themselves.

All of a sudden I realized there were some peeps hanging from the side of the mountain.
Please feel free to "bigify" the pictures as Tammy says.

See the house at the top right? What a view.

Last night, long after I saw this feat in person...I was having anxiety attacks!! hahaha!

The house on the hill.

Salty SkimmerA lifer for me. Variable Dancer.
This was a plant I've never seen so if anyone knows what it is I'm up for learning!!
Two Skippers here.I'm going to say Fiery Skipper for the light one. The other one is difficult...maybe a Little Glassywing? Anyone out there want to pipe in?UG!!!I'll keep my feet on a nice wide surface! We rode to the Azalea Trail, but the water was low and there really wasn't much water to see.Next was LUNCH at the DeSoto Restaurant. A lovely buffet with lots of good southern food! We noticed a group of folks that came in after us had Corvette Club shirts on and when we left this is what we found in the parking lot!Be still my heart. The only thing better would have been the Subaru WRX Club parked here! We then rode to Sequoya Caverns, but alas...note the sign on the gate!Well, all was not lost, Morgan got to say hi to this friendly fellow. The trip was so much fun! 158 miles and 6 hours! The temps in the upper 90's.We drove through three rain showers on the way home and I just couldn't help but laugh out loud. It was a cold prickly rain but it felt SO VERY GOOD!!

What a great day! Hot as hell though.

LOL at the Subaru Club! Why would they be closed on a Sunday of all days? Usually it's a Monday.

That drop off is some scary. I'd be having panic attacks!

Nice pics. I like the house with the view. A line of WRXs would have improved the car photos ;)

Eve said...

Thanks for stopping Chris! Yes anyone who like a WRX is a friend of mine! Hope you and your wife have a great adventurous River Ride!!

I used to have a WRX, but I sold it. My wife has an '07 limited WRX. They are fun cars. Which do you have?

Eve said...

Hi Chris, I could never live without my WRX!!! This is my third and it is an O7...but not limited. I had an O2...Very cool with the BIG fog lamps, and 04...not bad, it was a automatic and although not a stick, that thing would suck in air and nearly launch right off the ground. Here is a link to a post I did on my Katana with the WRX in the background. Yes a very fun car!

Bob...I think that is saying...a WRX is about the closest thing to riding a motorcycle (or scooter) as you can get!!!

The blue looks good. My wife's is black with tan leather interiorThe sunroof makes it closer to a bike, but nothing except a sidecar gets even close. Well... maybe a convertible, but it's still not as good.

I just looked at and commented on your April '09 "Unbelievable" post and photo. What a neat sky! I don't think we've ever had a completely unobstructed sky wherever we've lived, but have always enjoyed the beauty of what we could see. I used to love going up to the farm in TN and lying on the ground on a clear night to view the Milky Way. Now, so much light pollution has made it hard to see. At least there are awesome photos to look at.

Wonderful pics, Eve.

You had a great ride! Nice family trip. Which one of you gets Morgan on their bike? Won't be long and she will want her own:-) Beautiful park! The climbing would not be my thing...even when I was young and skinny. I like solid ground under me. Great Corvette shots! And very colorful! I'll have to show these to Mike.

Eve said...

I love the corvette colors too Mary! I've only a solo seat on my bike, so Morgan is with dad! Which is fine with me! Thanks for your comments!
