Walking Stick

There isn't much more fun than finding a good bug! This Walking Stick found a funny place to try to blend in. Maybe he was confused.
It didn't take long for the kids to find him.
Morgan is shaking hands now.
Give me five! Or whatever you have!
Let's give him a hand.
She figured this fellow would have much more fun where he belongs...
Someplace that looks somewhat more like a stick would do.
That stick sure can move.
There that's much better.
Of course Morgan has to go for a walk along with him.
Then give him a pat goodbye.
That looks like one happy Stick!

What a cool bug, Eve! He's quite large, but then again you do have lots of room for them thar bugs to grow. Yay! for putting him on a tree - much better digs for his kind! It's great that Morgan loves bugs as much as we do, Eve!

Fabulous Evie!!! Love this post to bits! Every photo a winner. What a wonderful find! Are they common or what? That is amazing bark on that tree, do you know what type it is? I think my fav photo is the last one.

Now this is a critter that we don't have here in California. I have never seen one anyway.
Really great photos and so glad to see that you've taught your daughter to be kind to God's creatures.

How unusual Evie, never seen anything like that.

I haven't seen one of these since I was about 7 years old. This is too cool.

Thanks all, I'm glad you like it. Walking Sticks are probably not seen very much as they are not easy to see!!! But they do seem to like to get on a warm surface from time to time...that's the only place I've ever found them. As you would tell it would be almost impossible to see them on a tree.
Jenny that is the Dogwood tree in my yard. I missed the bloom this spring so can't wait to see it next year.
Walking Sticks are beneficial insects.

Awww Eve Morgan is a young lady close to my heart. I love her sensitiveness to nature. I think I know where she gets it! Wonderful pictures with sensitive young hands helping that cool stick bug get back to his happy places. CH and I love stick bugs and we should be seeing them any day now. Morgan giving him the little pat goodbye puts a smile on my face this morning :)

Sweet Post that just gets my morning going right, makes me want to hurry up and get in the yard!

I love the Walking Stick photos, Eve. They really do look like Walking Sticks! I especially liked the interaction that your daughter had with the insect! Capturing that moment will be priceless.

Walking sticks are so fun. And the bark on that tree that Morgan and stick-friend are next to is INCREDIBLE!! A Dogwood you say, huh? Amazing...I've never seen bark like that before.

That's a sure cool bug to find! A big and interesting one to interact with. And a happy one too for Morgan helped him find a place where he belongs.

Honest, I have never seen a walking stick! Are you positive we have them here in Maine. Well, If I don't have my glasses on I would never see it anyway. You know I can never keep track of my glasses. What species of tree is that the walking stick is on? Love the photos! I need lessons!

I can see that Morgan is a budding naturalist learning from her mom :-) Great bug! Wouldn't mind finding one of those.

What an amazing insect and these are great photos Eve. Thanks for stopping by earlier. Always great to see you there. I hope you can get speedier internet connections soon. I know how frustrating that must be.

Nature overwhelms me with Her ingenuity. Creatures like that are so intriguing and leave me feeling somewhat in awe. So delicate and so very twig-like.

I also love the texture of that tree! Incredibly tactile for the eyes.

I think in that first photo he's hoping if he lays flat enough no one will see him! LOL!

Excellent bug though I don't know if I'd want to hold it even though it is harmless. The tree bark is really cool too!

Ok, I need to go to Alabama, you guys have all kinds of interesting creeters that we don't have here! It's great how Morgan loves nature just as much as you do. Like mother like daugther :)
