Different Perspective!

My new friend Steve http://shootingmyuniverse.blogspot.com/2008/11/portland-head-light.html posted beautiful pictures of the Portland Head Light and I was thrilled to see that! I had just taken pictures of it this summer, and from where he was standing....I had taken a photograph in that direction! Steve, I'm guessing you were standing about where that fellow is painting his picture! The picture above was taken with my Canon 5D. The battery was low so I took the top and this bottom picture with my Canon G9, a small point and shoot with a big heart!

Great lighthouse photo! I can certainly see a difference in the photos. Will have to keep that in mind when I'm choosing something new.

Thanks Mary!

No you cant Roy, the problem with the picture...not that there's too much of a problem...is the photographer. The G9, 12mp little bity camera is fantastic! (I'm telling this for others, I know you know!) It has many of the features of my expensive 5D and it shoots in RAW as well! It is well worth the price! I got mine for under $500. I think I paid $439. It is a fantastic camera to take everywhere.

Thank you for the kind words.

Now this is why I blog, look at these images! Yes, that is where I was standing. I didn't like the view from the opposite side, then when I got home, my brother sent me a photo from the side I poo-poo'd and it was phenomenal!

Then I look at this image and think, “Wow, I never would have though of taking this shot.” This is totally freaking awesome. Not to over analyze, but the flags are perfect, just the right amount of flutter. (Have you ever seen an image with a half limp flag? Blah!)

But I have to disagree with your comment to Roy, there ain’t nothing with the photographer. I’ve seen “tourist art” snapshots going for hundreds of dollars that couldn’t hold a candle to your work.

Steve you are too kind! Thank you for the wonderful comment! I am so glad you found this a fun post! And yes I agree...this is what blogging is all about! I love the comment about the flags too...I can't really remember if I consciously waited for the flag!! Ha Ha I was in Maine when Ike came through so........

I love your lighthouse and I also think your water photos look great w/ the rocky outcrops!

Oh wow, I want to go see that lighthouse one day. It almost looks like a Charles Wysocki painting. Beautiful photos Eve, you do take some gorgeous shots, love the coast line ones. I'm taking notes of your camera here. Can't wait for the next ones.

Hi Evie
Looks like a fabulous place to visit. Kind of reminds me of Portland in Dorset where I bird alot over here. Similar rocky coastline and not so similar lighthouse! (-:

How lovely! It is such a romantic place - the lighthouse - the guy painting - the rocks and the ocean - wow!!! Great pictures, Eve!
