And there it is!!!

My Neighbor Brenda and I have been walking, weather permitting lately and yesterday afternoon, after the snow melted (finally) she called and asked if Morgan and I would like to head out.
Of course we did! I grabbed the camera and off we went.

There seems to be a new addition to the neighborhood. We don't know his name yet but he is a very friendly fellow.

We'll be sure to bring him an apple next time.

We had Brenda's sweet collie Prissy with us and luckily she is a very well behaved girl, because things could have gone very wrong otherwise, when we saw none other than.....
The infamous ARMADILLO!!!
At first he didn't see us.

But it wasn't long before he spied us with his little beady eyes and started hauling!

 And I mean HAULING!!!

Prissy was actually right on his tail but when we said STOP...she did just that. And this little feller made it safely home.
Talk about a lazy armadillo...or is that resourceful?

Prissy didn't mine too much that we stopped her fun and just went on her merry way of checking out the neighborhood.

Of course when her arch nemesis showed up, the neighborhood Squirrel, she was bound and determined not to let anything but a tree stop her from getting to it. Lucky for that squirrel there are plenty trees to be found.

Prissy watched its every move, even when the squirrel crossed the road, from up above!

 It's getting late Prissy...
Time to head home!

A great Adventure there and back again! Love the new horse. I always wanted a horse. Prissy is a sweetheart and DANG that armadillo! Yeah, they're quite creative in home building. Glad you finally saw the critter and good on you guys for walking. Note To Self.....

What beautiful scenery along the road :-) Did you know that armadillos always bear identical quadruplets? All 4 female or 4 male. I just learned that at my last MG meeting. Gave me a new wrinkle in my brain :-) I'd like to know what he was doing out and about in the daytime. That's odd. My yard is riddled with their holes. They live under our deck -- along with I'm sure raccoons and who knows what else! I think I smelled a skunk the other day. Yikes!!

Nice new horse Evie, not sure about the weird miniature tank on legs though.

Oh for PETE'S sake! That armadillo is one of the kookiest things I've ever seen - it looks like an animal somebody made up in their imagination. Great shots, Eve - I had no idea those things could RUN! wow, just wow.
Such a pretty horse you have as a neighbor now, you lucky thing!
:-)

What a lovely new neighbor. And that crazy armadillo. I've never seen one acutally run before. Your photos of him are really neat.

When we were stationed in Texas my then wife came screaming into the house one afternoon because her roses were dancing....yep, armadillo or, as the "Goat Ropers" called them, Raccoon on the half shell.

Hi Debi! Walking is good! Bring a camera!

Hi Toni! I was reading about the armadillos after I found their holes in my yard. They also can carry Leprosy! But I've read there isn't much to worry about it. Not too many people are out there hugging armadillos 24/7! We were wondering why that dillo was out in the day, my neighbor figured that after all that snow we had, which had just melted, probably made for a hungry dillo!!

Hi Roy, I hope to get to know that horse a little better.

I knew you'd love the post Danni! Run they can! And I hear they can jump too! Spring like a Jack Russell!! I didn't try to grab it to find out tho!

Thanks Bunnits! Glad you enjoyed the post.

Very funny Chip! I think they are pretty harmless, but they are just so weird you don't want to go and pet one!! I like the Texas term for them!

You have Armadillo's! Holy cow, girl! That is pretty cool! Nice action shot, Eve.

When it comes to squirrels, Lily will sit under a tree for an hour waiting for it to come down.

Glad you have a neighbor to walk with. I do too and she is my saving grace on stressful days : )

What a lovely place to walk. It looks like the dog was having a good time too.
I have never seen an armadillo before. They are strange looking critters... and fasinating. All that "armor" must really protect them from predators.
I looked them up, out of curiosity, and it says that the Spanish conquistadores saw this strange creature and called it "little man in armor". That fits doesn't it?
Don't forget an apple for the beautiful horse next time.

All right! You captured the armadillo in a pic! And a GREAT shot of one running! Congratulations! I also like the portrait of the horse. What a great photo day!

Good Morning Evis! The only armadillos we have around here are squished. Seriously, CH was saying the other day that we have never seen a live one in MissouREE. Saw our share of live ones in Louisiana and Texas. They pretty much creep me out.

Your new neighbor looks like he/she would like a pet and some munchies. He/she needs to get that forelock out of his/her eyes. We have 5 horse of courses for neighbors and whenever I walk the "tiny ten" I have 5 necks with heads stretched over the fence nickering and mumbling away for carrot coins. I love them.

Isn't walking just the best?

Dogs like Prissy can turn any ordinary walk into a grand adventure. What a good girl! Love your new neighbour. Such a handsome fellow with his white mane.

I've never seen an armadillo and never one in action, like that! Wow! I had no idea they could move so fast. What a great capture. How thrilling that must have been.

Thanks for taking me along with you!

I love the new header photo. Did you know that Armadillos are startled they're capable of jumping 3-4 ft. straight up? That little tidbit of information just gives me the heebie jeebies. They are bizarrely fascinating.

Sweet horse. What a soft, fuzzy nose.

I've never seen an armadillo in real life, funny little creatures. I'm not sure what Prissy would have done with him in all that armor

Nice write up on your adventure in the neighborhood!

What a wonderful walk! We once had horses staying in a pasture near us. Our dog Shepherd used to get in there with them and try to round them up! He didn't chase squirrels; he preferred big animals and things like snakes. I think he may have liked the armadillo. Your dog is beautiful. She is fortunate to live in such a great place!

And a good time was had by all! I'm not sure what I like the most...the horse, the armadillo, or the dog! What a fun adventure.

Wow, what an experience! I guess you never know what you may encounter on a walk. I have only ever seen armadillos dead on the side of the road and look you got to see one in person and running at that. I didn't know they could run like that. Your dog is precious. I am sure she makes walks so much fun!
