How Exciting!

A special treat for me to photograph, this Red-breasted Nuthatch showed up while I was on the phone with my mom. I said good-bye and rushed to get the camera. This sweetheart was the perfect model for me as I clicked away.

Thanks Roy! I was walking around looking for him and I turned and there he was!!! Not a bit afraid of me! A rare bird for me here so far. They winter in the south but sometimes, I'm told, they will not see any during the winter here.

What luck! I rarely see these, much less get to photograph them.

Evis! You lucky stinker you!!! I can even see the feathers on his/her? little chinny chin chin and his teeny bird claws on his feeties! What a shot :) We have not seen any Red-Breasted but we have three White-Breasted zooming up and down the Old Man's Oak tree for black oil sunflower that we are leaving at the base of the tree. I do believe Nuthatches are my favorite birds. All that beep!Beepbeep!beep!beeping at each other just make me smile. They are so dang cute! And busy birdies too :) Glad you had your clickin' finger clickin'! Did ya call your Mom back after hangin' up on her?!

My word verification...LOONS! I swear!!!

What fabulous shots Evie, I'm sure your Mom approved of the reason for her abruptly ended phone call! (-: They are beautiful birds. I wonder if that means it will be a tough winter further north than you this year?
