Friday Ice

The last weekend of January in northern Alabama had it's challenges.
But mostly it was just one of those semi-inconvenient works of art that Mother Nature deals out from time to time.No damage done here on the mountain.

I especially like the photo of the Holly leaves with the little ice cycles. At least it was sunny yesterday and is again today!

Hi!!!! I'm back from a nice weekend with my mom, Eve. We had lots of snow, sleet and ice along the river but I didn't even open my camera case. Lazy? Nah...too cold? Definitely! LOVE your winter shots and I'm absolutely GAGA over your new header! Well done, dearie!

These photos seem to evoke a gentle kind of cold if that makes sense? I love the holly one too and also the twigs with the picnic table in the background. Lovely Evie!

Oh I want to thank you all too for the nice comments on my header. This little Carolina Wren was quite good about sitting on my shed roof for quite some time. I think he was put out by all the ice! The photo was taken at a distance, at 400mm. It was heavily cropped, saturated, sharpened and even flipped to make it good enough to post. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and I'm happy you like it too! Thank you!

I'm glad you didn't get the type of ice storms that we get up here. Hang in there, the dogwoods will be in bloom soon.

Very nice new header, btw.
Lovely series of photos. Somehow they still radiate warmth, even though it's ice. The first shot reminds me of a little tree in our yard, but ours just has rain drops clinging to the limbs (thankfully). Are those crocus coming up in the third? I love to see the first crocus and dafodils when they come up. It's my first sign that spring will return!
Thanks for sharing the great photos.

Your shots are very "arty" today! Lovely captures of the drips and colors and patterns of winter.

Your photos are wonderful. Especially the last one with the chimes. It's exquisite!
Hopefully this will be the last "thaw" and Spring will blossom soon.
