Yard Birds

It's been awhile since I posted some of the birds around my yard. We've been in a spell of cloudy, cold, rainy days so I haven't had the camera out much. I dug back into my photos to see what I'd seen in the last few weeks and thought I'd post them for today. The first two pictures were taken Nov. 2 when there was still a few leaves out there.

The Red-bellied Woodpecker was finishing up the Dogwood berries. The ever present Tufted Titmouse who seems to be the busy-body of the neighborhood, always just one step behind every bird in the woods.I almost didn't post this picture because it's very hard to see the Brown Creeper at the bottom of the tree creeping up the side AND the Eastern Bluebird at the top of the photo. If you click on the photo you should be able to see it a little better. This was from a good distance at 400mm and heavily cropped. The Brown Creeper is one tough bird to spot!Do you remember this birdhouse with the poor Clematis that was ravaged by bugs? It's trying to make a comeback! The Carolina Chickadee is checking out the box......and of course the Titmouse is right behind him!Lastly the Dark-eyed Juncos have arrived twittering about the yard non-stop.Someday I'll get a bird hide built and maybe I'll get a good close-up of that little Creeper!

Love your yard birds, Eve! My mom and I spotted a red bellied woodpecker the other day. They are so beautiful. Those Tufted guys are fun to watch! I'm impressed that you captured the little brown creeper - that's outstanding. Occasionally, I'll see them but never when I've a camera at hand! Great bird shots all 'round, dearie!

I'm glad you got a shot of the red-bellied....so beautiful. I've only ever seen a couple of the Brown Creepers and like you say, they blend in so well with the bark, I never get a good photo. We have the same yard birds pretty much...aren't they a lovely bunch to have every day?

I love how you find so much to photograph in your own backyard

Wow. Great job on the captures. And, I'm impressed that you know what kind of birds they are. You must have a lot of cheerful chirping going on in your backyard.

I love the 4th and 5th pictures! I love them all but it is funny how a shot just can hit ya. Those birds are loving life at Sunny Side Up Eve's yard!

Lovely shots Evie, the Brown Creeper is just like our Tree Creeper from a distance anyway. That was a good capture.

Lovely to see some of your regular garden birds Evie. I can't quite figure out what that Bluebird is doing? It is either ducking from a hawk or about to fly off! (-:

I finally got a photo of a Brown Creeper this year as well. And yes, even with the 400mm with a 1.6x extender, the photo still had to be heavily cropped! They are neat birds though.
