Finally!!
The time has come for birding in Alabama!
We joined the North Alabama Birdwatchers Society for our first birding experience!
And what else do you see when you go birding?
Goats!
Our trip took us to Guntersville State Park.
Our trip took us to Guntersville State Park.It was a rainy day and we didn't have much time to enjoy before the rain came but the scenery was, as usual, beautiful.

We saw two Bald Eagles way off in a tree like this, but it was gray and dark and I didn't try to photograph them. 
Even the drab Eastern Wood-Pewee was more drab than usual.
But the Beautyberry and Goldenrod couldn't be more stunning! 
We ended with a trip over to the old harbor in Guntersville at the foot of the bridge into town.

Being a newbie here I never would have known!

Those goats are really cute :-) I'm always happy to see something else when I fail to get bird shots. I'm glad you found a great group and look forward to photos when the weather is better. Love those terns on the posts and the Avocet!
What great place to go to. So natural and wild.
I get a kick out of the young goat butting the big one. They do that. It's so funny. They practice.
The seagull in the last photo is so perfect. Just one against the wind.
You need a lens on your camera that will bring these birds closer.
Well Sunny Side Up Eve that was a good and great day all around except for the weather. Goats, new birds, the Beautyberry and Goldenrod together IS stunning and new friends to learn all about. That would put a smile on my face. Thats what your post did for me this early Sunday morning! :)
Ahhh....! I thought of you yesterday, Eve, as the rains came pouring down. I'm glad you were able to get out and see some birds before the deluge. Nice captures despite the darkness. !!!
Congrats on the avocet Eve! It's a beautiful bird :) My favorite photo from your trip is the one of the harbour with the terns, so pretty.
Shame about the weather Evie, but a good bit of reconnaissance for the future. Fabulous new header.
I'm so glad you got out on this first birding trip down south Evie. I hope you get better weather next time around! Just think, winters should be pretty bearable now! (-: What is the name of the stunning butterfly on your header please?
I used to live in Arizona, Bird watching is big there. I see the appeal, you get to see some pretty birds and walk in nature. cool

Jenny the new header is a Gulf Fritillary. The same one as below! It's a good one...we didn't have them way up north.
Amazing Eve! The American Avocet is still a bird that I need to add to my birding list- I would have never guessed that there would be one in Guntersville! Great find! I am glad that we have had sunshine for the past 2 days! The bright side- I suppose- is that the mushrooms and moss are really doing well in my yard now. I found two more Indigo Milk Mushrooms in my yard this morning- as well as a few other species that I haven't seen before. I need to get busy blogging- I am getting backed up on things that I need to write about! I also need to get caught up on your blog- so without further adieu I will begin reading more of your posts...
Love your new header cousin Eve. I'm sorry the rain didn't hold off a bit longer for you, but know you had a great time regardless. Glad to hear you have joined the bird club, you are now truly a resident of Alabama!
