Only the Boys...

It's been cold, really cold, and we've had snow, lots of snow, so I was surprised to see Guineas come out of the coop on Friday. Maybe they just wanted to do a little bird watching. I started taking pictures of these two brave young men when all of a sudden there was some flying of the coop! Of course there is always an obstruction while taking pictures of guineas. And it's not an easy task. Neither is landing on a picnic table covered in snow. I think the two under the feeder were happy with their choice of walking. Look out for that big post!It turned out all the boys came out and no girls. Can you blame them, it barely got out of the 10's that day. The boys are all here. Well, there may be one girl here but in the end she decided to high-tail it back to the coop and leave the cold to the boys.

It sure has been cold lately! I don't blame the girls for staying inside. Sounds like my husband and I! lol!

Is the coop heated? Those Guineas are so darned cute!!!

I will go along with that one. The boys should be the ones cleaning the snow away while we sit in the warm with the hot chocolate (not a coffee drinker).

Eve, I have changed my blog, added a new one. The new one will be the one I will post on a daily basis. Hope you will stop by the new blog.

Looks like the boys were doing their best to impress the girls and doing a fine job. What characters!

It looks like a beautiful sunny day, in spite of all the white stuff. Our weather, in a word, has been dreary. :oÞ

Eve,
Could be coop fever..or the guys were getting underfoot, henpecked or the honey do list was getting too long!!
Enjoyed your post, Eve, hope you are into some warmer weather soon!

Those girl guineas are smart! But boys will be boys!

Er.....this might be a stupid question, but how do you tell the males and females apart? I bet it's something obvious that I've overlooked..... (-:
They look so good against that snow!

Yah, uh, my Peterson's and Shibley's East Coast guides do not have Guineas. I tend to agree with Tina, I've seen men go out and sit on a beer cooler in the middle of a frozen lake in sub-zero temperatures to get some peace. But not me! B and I get along just fine! (Is she still looking over my shoulder?)

A very funny set of comments all! I think the girls just have more sense...that is in the world of guinea!!
Sharon, their coop is not heated, but tomorrow I'm going to put their lamp on...it's going down to -25 Thursday and will be very cold for some time. So far they've done quite well even at the two days we got down to -17.
Jenny...a lesson in guinea sexing...(sorry) boys say Cheee Cheee Cheee...girls say "Buckwheat". But Girls can say Cheee Cheee Cheee...but boys do not say "Buckwheat". So everyone in the coop was saying "Buckwheat" and no one outside was.
And I asked Morgan and she knows them all by sight!!
Steve...some men are crazy but not you! And I think guineas should be in a bird book somewhere! I'll include them in mine if I ever get it finished.

Always knew girls are smarter than boys! Love the photos! How funny they look on the table! "Walking in a winter wonderland..." Do you think the ones under the feeder were looking for dropped seed?

Just like humans, the girls are smarter than the boys and stay in where it's warm. We're supposed to get some extreme cold weather too by the end of the week.
