Pale Dove Update

It's a busy time around here and I've been slacking on my blog but I wanted to update you on my pale Mourning Dove. I've seen him or her a number of times over the seasons and he or she seems to always have a mate. So everything is working out well except...This last ice storm seems to have taken his or her tail feathers! This happens from time to time and I even saw a Mourning Dove with extra feathers stuck to his or her tail!! (sorry no pictures). So anyway tail or no tail, that is one tough Mourning Dove!! Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest but LOOK at that silly Blue Jay!!!

You must live in a lovely part of the world to have all these beautiful birds visiting you on a regular basis.

I get pigeons on my balcony every year....does that count?

BTW, thank you for your loving, kind words at my place today.

Maybe the silly Blue Jay got them, and that is what all the discussion is about. :)

Oh dear, how embarrassing that must be to have to go out without your tail feathers. He/she seems to be holding up fine, though. :-)

I think those are great pics! Beautiful mourning doves (even without a tail!) and I love the snowy beak of the Blue Jay!:)

Hey Eve,
I am guessing that when the Dove was roosting in a tree during that icy frozen rain that its tail feathers froze to a branch or something causing them to pull out when he moved away. (Its just a theory)

Roy I suppose that dove that had the extra feathers attached to his/her tail was old Pale dove's mate! True love can make it through any icy storm!!!
Ha Ha!!! A good theory for sure!

My eyes zeroed right in on that blue jay! He looks like he got caught with frosting on his face!

I was just thinking that the wounded or odd ones seem the toughest at times. I had a junco yesterday with a broken leg...stuck straight out to the side....but it seemed to be feeding and getting about. So, I'm rooting for your dove! They seem to be pretty hardy.

I thought at 1st your mourning dove was going to pull a karate move on your blue jay! Funny!

That jay must be related to mine...my son says I have the wimpiest blue jays! (Not so - they are just well behaved.)
