Who Let the Dogs Out?

Ok the title is a little bit off...but not really.
You remember my sweet little house in the wood. It is so quaint and tucked away with its little red door.
I just fell in love the minute I saw a picture of it.
One of the first things I thought, even tho I love the way it looks, is that the porch railing would give me a feeling of being in jail. After a year I've decided that yes it does. So the work began yesterday and most of the railings came down. My sweet hubby was a little sad because he just loves to go out and lean on the railing and survey the woods. So sorry honey. The railings were beautifully built and the best part about them is that I am going to reuse them somewhere in my gardens. I can't wait to figure out just what to do with them.I love the way this looks and feels. And now the doggies can get a better start on the squirrels, lizards, or any other critter that they like to chase! Silly dogs. Ok I forgot to put a picture of the dogs here...I'm sure it won't be long before Ole has his big fat paws hanging over the edge, waiting for trouble! The new look! I hope you like it!

OK Evis! CH says he loved those railings too! Just right for leaning on and resting your palms on the top with a glass of your sweet tea. But me, I LOVE the new open look! BEE-utiful!! All the more better now for Ole to survey and protect his territory! Cool Evis, literally. Let the mountain breeze move freely over that sittin porch :)

Hey!!! You DID IT!!!! I love the look, Eve. It's so "you!" We'll have to toast to the new look whenever our lives get settled again. That'll be soon, right? Right? GREAT SHOTS - love your house and yard!

Wow, you accomplished it! I love the look with the railing and spindles, but it is so much easier to move around without them. I am sure you will find a creative way to recycle those railings, I can invision some form of trailing plant intertwined on them in the garden. Your home is so lovely, hidden in the singing woods!

You have an amazing "eye", Eve - I think it looks SO much better to have the railings down, but I never would have imagined it on my own! Your husband is very sweet to assist you in the dismantling, despite losing his beloved arm rests!

Maybe its a girl thing, but I too prefer the new open verandah look Evie. Mind you, if you want to get a real sense of that 'hemmed in' feel then just come and visit me over here in WAY overcrowded Britain! (-:

I like it too, Eve! That shot with the flag looks great being open like that.

I love it. Really opens the porch up to your yard. Looking forward to see what you do with the railings. They're too nice not to be utilized somewhere. Bravo!

So Evie you're being let out of jail early for "good behaviour".
I find that hard to believe.{:)

It's a very open look...easy to see stuff now...very nice! I like it both with and without the rails. I think you would have to live there to know which was best.

Much nicer and more open without the railings.
I'm glad you're going to re-use them. That was the first thing I was going to ask: Wish I could buy them from you...

Thanks for all your support! I'm just waiting for the perfect place for them to let itself be known!

I love the house! And I do like the porch without the rails. I can just imagine that you will find a great place for them somewhere around your yard.
