A lit-O-bit O this...

...and that!Click to see what Daisy is looking at there on the left.
A little garden treat.
Spicy Spicebush (male).
Things to come?
A very active and colorful Pipevine.
All alone.
My first attempt at taking pictures of our bats here at home. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they could be Evening Bats, after researching the bats in our area. They come out a little bit before sundown and are just a joy to watch. I'm planning on building them a house or two...in time.
A happy home has happy bats!

Great shot of Daisy Lu and the skink! Very cute :-) I still don't know how to tell all those black swallowtail butterflies apart. Don't think I have seen the Pipevine, but maybe I just didn't know what I was seeing. Good luck with the bats!

Cute piccy of Daisy Lu and the Skink (thanks Mary for the name). Is that red colour on the chin just for breeding do you think Evie? Do you know what tree that is that's starting to colour up? That Pipevine is a stunner! Will you home now be called Batsville??? (-:

As I am really into butterflies lately, and know virtually nothing, I was amazed at that Pipevine! Wow what a display of color!

Your bits of this and that were fantastic!

Nice bug pictures, Eve! Okay, you're on your own with the bats. As much as I love bats, I just haven't got what it takes to shoot them.

We have the Little Brown Bats here in the evening. And surprisingly enough- they are little brown bats. The is also a Big Brown Bat species. Gotta love the common names for these bats! The Little Brown Bats come to our pool at night and swoop down to the surface occasionally. Last night I just floated on my back and watched as they flew at roof line height eating bugs. Great idea to get some bat houses- they eat lots of mosquitoes- one are one of the most efficient mosquito killers out there. Great photos of the butterflies!

Now that what I would call two exotic flutters Eve. Fantastic colours on the Pipevine underwing.
Bats as well...You are definitely a lucky lady. FAB

That butterfly you captured (pipevine?) is amazing! The colors are astounding. Love the Daisy Lu shot ...funny girl. She's got a sharp eye, doesn't she?
And you don't need bat houses, what you need, Eve, is a barn! Then you could have lots of animals *and* bats. My bats all live upstairs in my barn. :-)

I don't know the species of that tree, however, I did notice the leaves have started to change! Say it ain't so. Last night I heard the crickets outside my bedroom window. A sure sign fall is just around the corner.

Oh the crickets Julie! I remember up north...2 summers ago I complained they were too early!!! Now, here in Alabama, there are so many bugs making noise and I don't even care!!! Life is good!!!

Life is Good! Love hearing that Eve! Also love seeing the pictures. The butterfly pics are wonderful. Country Cat used to love her lizards and skinks and toads and stick bugs oh my! Daisy needs to get her 100% worth of fun from the skink?! My fav pic is the 4th one. And bats, I don't know I'm still struggling with the comfort level on them :)

Run Daisy! Run! LOL!

It's always nice to see the simple joys of everyday life : )

Are the bats having a problem with White Nose Syndrome where you live Eve? It's killing them by the thousands here, wiping out complete colonies.

Awesome photos Eve, I enjoyed them all :) The one of the yellow flower is perfect, especially with the drops of rain (or is it morning dew?) on the petal tips. The one with daisy and the little lizard is just ridiculously cute!!You're a great photographer :)

don't build the bat house too close to your house. Lovely butterfly photos.
