In the Garden...

Flame Grass Miscanthus sinensis 'Purpurascens' These plants are in their second year and first blooming.
When you live in a place where the wind never stops it's always fun to add plants in the garden that play well with it!
These guys are ever moving bringing interest and fun. Their stalks are now turning a bright red orange.
More to come.

I love when this type of grass is backlit by the rising or setting sun, the seed fronds seem to glow.

How beautiful! I keep thinking I should plant some grasses near the edge of the pond. If they are "ornamental" the neighbors can't complain about how ratty our side of the pond looks. These are great and I like the idea of them blowing in the wind. By the way, I was impressed that you recognized what type of gun Mike was shooting....I didn't have a clue myself!

Thanks John!

Thank you Mary!! Well, I have to admit that I asked my hubby on that one. I had an idea on what it was but he's the expert...so I had to check in with him. I would have said AK 47 but he said it wasn't exactly that. He's an Army Vet so he knows his stuff.
Yes get the grasses. Many of them are not invasive, but some may be so check first. These Flame Grass don't seem to be at all. I'll have to divide them to get more. Check your zone and have fun with it!

Hi Eve,

This photo and the new header photo are great and very "Eve Sweatman" in style.
I always know a "Monet" painting when I see one and I always know an Eve Sweatman photo when I see one.

There is always something fun about shooting grasses like these. They do add great texture to the garden.
