Babyface

The season is moving a little faster than I could have imagined!
Not 3 days ago my Japanese Maple was a dull maroon. Yesterday in the sun, I noticed it had changed to a spectacular red!

As we sat outside, enjoying the warmth and sunshine of a fine fall afternoon, I had a little visitor. Now I know some of you (Julie) aren't interested in my little fuzzy friends....
...but how can I not show this crazy little Babyface!
This little Jumping Spider is just one of the many that, as far as arachnids go, has stole my heart!

Hi Eve, I was going to comment on your prior post but went to LaRue's site to check it out first. When I returned you had put up today's new spider post!
It is an amazing spider! It gives literal meaning to the old term 'four eyes'. Your photo gives charm and personality a small creature most of us overlook.

I'm loving fall. I was outside taking photos for my own blog today. The colors are wonderful and changing daily. Lou and I had the place raked up just a few days ago, and already a new thick layer of leaves covers the ground. It's a good thing I like to rake!

I enjoyed your photos on LaRue's site. Do you know the name of the plant with the pinkish blue berries? Is it a kind of viburnum? It is gorgeous!

Happy Fall! Deb

Eve he is darling :) He looks a little surprised by you in the first picture. It is nice to see some great photography from Eve again. Yes it is.

Jumping spiders seem to have a personality that is more likable than most arachnids.

Great picture of the spider. We too have a lot of spiders in the yard and I'm always trying to capture them on the camera.

They don't come close to your awesome close ups though.

Hi Eve! I have been meaning to comment on some of your other posts, but you got ahead of me. Love the little spider pic! I was driving down the road the other day and happened to look up and there was a little black jumping spider on my visor above me, so I freaked out (while driving) and swatted him off the visor, not knowing where he went. Then a WEEK later, I was in my truck and grabbed my drawing pad to go meet with a client, and lo and behold there was that crazy spider again on my pad of paper! So I freaked out again, and the spider went flying and fell somewhere between my seat and the console. So who knows where he will turn up this week. My husband is grossed out by the fact that I obviously have enough "food" in my truck for a spider to live for a week (or indefinitely). Ha!! What can I say, I'm a busy gardener :-) Your picture makes the spider look so sweet that maybe my conniptions were not justified. But at first glance I wasn't sure what kind it was. Love the maple shots, too. Just hoping I get some color out of my maples this year with the drought we've had. It will be another month before they have color, if at all.

First let me say, another amazing photo, you never disappoint Eve. The subject matter, are you trying to put me in an early grave? four eyed jumping spiders! Thank goodness they reside in your neck of the woods and not mine!

The Japanese Maple is beautiful, but the face of the little jumping spider is just adorable. I love their big "headlight" eyes.

Love the little spider. He's very cute and dignified at the same time.

I didn't think that any of our trees were going to turn colors this year and then we got a cold spell... bam! Now we are starting to see some color change. It's wonderful...

Hi Deb, I sure do wish I was there helping you rake! That vine is a Porcelain Vine. I looked it up and it seems to be on the invasive list. (figures!) Her place is as amazing in the fall as it is in the spring!

PIX, that little bugger kept looking at me with all his eyes! Thanks for hanging out and waiting for me to post again!

HI Steve! Yes they really seem to be quite personable! Thanks for stopping!

Thanks Trob! (I have to shorten the name cause I'm a horrible speller and I would have to try to memorize, which is nearly impossible for me now....that I'm older than dirt). glad you like the photos. I've got a handy 100mm macro lens that works great for the little guys!

Hi Toni! It's funny because I had a Jumping Spider on my motorcycle with me one day! He was sitting on the place where one of my lights on the...dashboard???? hahahaha and I couldn't see the light! Well, I just left him there cause I figured he was holding on for life anyway! You just never know where you're going to run into one of those little guys!

Hi Sharon, well.....it might be easier to raise a jumping spider than a Japanese Maple???

Hi Bunnits! Glad you liked him too!!

Hi farmlady, glad you got the colors coming now. I wasn't sure if we would get ours last year because of the drought but they finally turned. This year the drought was a little less and the color a little more!

Thanks Karin! Boy do love their bugs!

Hi Roy, they get better by the day. I'm amazed every time I walk out the door.

Hi John! Thanks for stoppin! Glad you like him. I was surprised when he jumped on my lap and had to send for the camera to make sure I got shots without taking my eye off him!
