Spring Days

The Columbine are blooming. Color in my yard.
Crepe Myrtle in the foreground, Japanese Maple in the middle and Cherry in the rear.My realtor Linda gave me this sweet pink Columbine last year when I saw our house for the first time. The dragonflies are making their appearance. This Common Whitetail female is on the edge of the woods.
Where the little wild clover belongs. This might be a blueberry but since I never paid attention to blueberries, during the few times I've picked them, I could be wrong. We put a Martin house in the field by the road. I've seen Martins flying above the house but not seen any takers here yet. There is a pair of Bluebirds checking it out though.Sadly, I've noticed a couple finches with the eye disease that can weed out the weak.
Most of my finches are no longer here and the few that have the disease are struggling for food and water.
You are not necessarily supposed to feed them but I haven't the heart to take away their only place for comfort.
Morgan has made friends with this little one.I've read that there is no known jump to humans with this disease, and they don't treat it because it might make the disease more resilient."No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted"

Columbines, Dragonflies, and friendly Goldfinches. It doesn't get any better than this.

Beautiful flowers and a beautiful young Lady in the garden Evie. Yes its a problem with many Finches, they seem very susceptible to all kinds of diseases.

Looks like a faery garden and Morgan is so beautiful. She looks like a little earth goddess. I love Columbine and all the flowers you mentioned. I'm waiting for my wisteria to grow up someday, sigh..lol.

First off, LOVE that new header! That blue shade of columbines is a favourite of mine. I absolutely love that first photo of Morgan with the finch. A lovely portrait! Do those finches ever recover from that I wonder? Hope so.

Hey Sunny Side Up Eve! Both the pictures of Morgan are very sweet but I really love the one with the Goldfinch being held gently in her hands. Eve's Gardens and Property Walks take on a whole new feeling now :) Makes me a little wistful. Eve there are oodles and oodles of dragonflies down here right now. Very cool but kinda weird.

Great new header Eve!

Morgan is like the bird whisperer. Poor little things. So sad.

Good luck on the Martins! I'd love to have them in my yard. Spring looks lovely in your neck of the woods!

My goodness Eve, the first picture of Morgan with that little finch and the quote at the end of your post brought a tear to my eye. I just saw your post about Blindy, poor little guy. Your daughter seems so gentle and loving, she must've been sad when Blindy left.

The end of this is as sad as the beginning was happy. Poor, sweet little thing. Both the bird and Morgan. Aw.

Your garden flowers are beautiful! How wonderful to buy a house with such great landscaping already in place and I know you will add a lot more beauty to it as you go. That poor finch. I see a lot of the eye disease in the House Finches here, but not in the goldfinches. I also have some cardinals that look awful in one way or another. Frustrating to see them suffer and not know what to do to help.
