The Outing Part 2: Lunch

Now that the fish and ducks were full of bread it was our turn to eat.
Sorry little fella none left for you.
(this little guy is for Jenny and Roy!)First we had to stop to take pictures of last years Hydrangea left overs.Well, when the name of the restaurant is Pizza and Wine what else is there to do......but go with the flow. This was the best pizza either of us had ever had. Debi...what was on here? I wasn't paying attention. But I remember one of the names...Mona Lisa. After our wine we reflected for a few minutes......then Elvis showed up to take a bow...Thank you...thank you very much. The park was full of beautiful trees and walkways.Lamp posts......and some dark, beautiful Magnolias.Places to sit......with a view. Then we found "The Declaration of Independence on a large rock......signed by some of my favorite people......and guarded by an eternal flame.Next a little History.

An Outing Part 1: Somethings Fishy

Debi and I met on a very lovely morning this week to get out and about and have Pizza and Wine this week. She was my guide and our Pizza place was in a beautiful section of the Historical District in Huntsville which had a little park and pond.
We met Elvis there......and his wife. The trees there were beginning to bloom! There were many ducks which included this brotherhood of Muscovy, a non-native species. This bridge lead us to what was, for me, an amazing sight.Hundreds......no, thousands of fish. When a young mom and child came to bring bread to the ducks and geese wild things started happening! The water turned orange, gold and slate.Oh and a coot gave us a view of his silly little foot! This Canada Goose was poised for action...Just waiting......for that smidgen of bread......and you better get it quick......before this guy comes along.......OR THIS GUY!!!These fish were HUGE!
I loved them all.
More to come.

It's Back!

I had a very busy day yesterday enjoying spring in Huntsville with my very good blogging friend Debi. We had such a great time and I'll be posting about it later.
But for now I'm going to put away winter and spend some time getting reacquainted with spring!
I hope it's a beautiful day where you are!

After the Rain

The day after the big rain the sun came out for just a bit, but it didn't last long.
The Mahonia is blooming and the honey bees took advantage of the warm sun to get out and pollinate. Soon these flowers will turn to grape like berries that the birds just love. This is a wild honeysuckle that smells as sweet as sugar!I've shown these mushrooms before. There are three and they stuck around all winter.
I wonder how long they will last?Maple tree getting ready to leaf out!Hawthorn I believe. (I think because it's got sharp prickers that HURT!)
~Thanks to my friends who let me know it was a Quince tree. I did some research and found there is another one on the property that actually had one fruit on it last year. Alas, the bugs are really enjoying themselves on the mountain!~Forsythia!I missed all these blooms last year and have a few more to go.
I have until April 24 to get them all in before we've been here a year!
WOW!
