The Subdued Rumble Begins!

Now if you recall we had a nice February thaw (poor Mr. Snowman) and on the 19th, obviously after that young lady turkey and her friend spread the word) a whole gaggle....ummmm "rafter" of turkeys showed up in the yard. There was another rafter across the road but maybe they'd already met the Guinea kids and had, shall we say, an understanding. It took a little while but this bunch of about 20, each of which was no less than twice the size of my kids, to make it around back. Here they meet, guineas to the right, turkeys to the left. Now I'm not quite sure what it is that makes guineas look formidable to these big gobblers... ...I even think the turkeys were wondering the same thing. Maybe it was the noise alone that turned them away, but to tell you the truth the kids weren't all that loud...just persistent. We'll just follow them to make sure they get the message. Looks like we've made ourselves semi loud and clear.Well, let's just check to make sure. Very good then! Those silly birds!

Visitors

On the last day that I was recording the demise of Mr. Snowman I noticed (instead of something yellow in the road) something brown in the driveway. It turned out to be a turkey...which turned out to be the theme of the almost two weeks my computer was in the shop. She managed to make it around to the back yard...
Where the guineas are hold up not daring to step one foot out in the snow... ...until an intruder shows up. "We can do this guys come on lets go!!" This turkey is looking for a way out just in case things heat up."Well if that little chickadee is welcome then it must be OK for me." "Come on" Buddy says "lets get her!" "you bunch of chickens!" (no offence Danni!) What does she see...backup! "Those guineas don't look so tough." "and look, I've got some pretty feathers too!"Well they didn't stay too long... and I didn't even get one feather!

Snowman Sequel?

Well...sort of...

When I was taking pictures of Mr Snowman getting tippy...I noticed the bus was getting a little tippy too!

Just so you know, "Mildred" was already off the bus and no one was hurt. The driver thought he could turn around instead of driving way up the road. "Mildred" has a new driver now....

The Big Meltdown

What you are about to see happened between January 31 and February 2, 2009. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
****Looks like "Mildred" is our only witness so far****
Everything seems to be on the up and up here. Whaaaaa? Uh oh...oh dear... I think we might have a suspect. Is that a tear or sweat? Yikes. And another day comes to a close. And the sun comes up again.Things are really getting bad now.

We've determined this little fellow just couldn't take the heat.

So Happy to Be Back!!!

Thank you all for your warm comments while my computer was in the shop. It was so nice to see I was missed!
For my first post back I want to go back in time to January 31st and post this very funny group of videos featuring Morgan and Buddy. They are so comical to watch and Buddy just loves to come out and play with Morgan. I have a feeling Morgan wasn't looking which way she was going here!!

Buddy is getting quite heavy but there's no stopping the trip back to the coop. Maybe Morgan can fly back to the coop if she really tries, or maybe Buddy will fly HER back!
Finally rounding the bend...
but if you ask me...
...I'd say Buddy didn't want to go home!

Saying Goodbye

Well a week just flew by with Julie here. Poor Bill, her sweet husband who dropped her off and headed through the lake effect snow to a week long class in Ohio, had to drive through it again at the end of the week. But the morning they left it was a nice day and they encountered very little snow along the way. We had such a good time, even if we were snowed in for most of it. Thank you so much Bill for not flying to Ohio. Julie and I just loved our visit and who knows what spring will bring....a visit to Alabama??? Or another trip to Maine!!!
