Inside Joke...

Denise....you know what to do!!!

Last Year

These pictures are nothing to write home about but I wanted to share with you some photos I took last year at this time. We were blessed with a large number of Common Redpolls for the fall and winter. They are very funny looking birds which brought a smile to my face each and every day. They are extremely tame and I found my daughter spending a lot of time under the feeder coaxing them with treats.
I was so excited to have a Red-bellied Woodpecker even if it was just for a day. Today the weather is miserable to say the least. Our area is getting hammered by lake effect snow. I am a bit closer to the lake, and with the warmer temperatures from the water, we are getting a rain snow mix.
It's a good day to stay inside, keep warm and let Black Friday happen (as usual) without us!

Bitter Sweet...

Well, guys...I've got some news. Some of you already know, but I felt it was time to share with all. We put our house up for sale about a week or so ago. It was a hard decision but my husband has wanted to go back down south for many years. I've put it off, but I think it's time. There are a lot of pros and cons here but I'm an adventurer at heart and can deal with lots of changes.
That is a For Sale sign in front of my house!!I will keep you up to date on our adventure in the weeks possibly months to come.
I hope that in the end, where ever our new home ends up, I will be able to bring you as much enjoyment in pictures as I have along the way.
Sadly, I have my doubts that we will have the amount of land we have here in our new home.
We will most likely not be bringing the guineas along. I have people who would love to take them and give them a good home. I would really love it if whoever buys the house would like to keep them on. Time will tell.
Wish us luck, in the mean time...it's Sunny Side Up as usual.

Shooting Sunrise

I think on average I get more of these types of shooting sunrises than rainbows. It's a good trade off.
I really don't know if there is a term for this phenomenon but "Shooting Sunrise" seems appropriate to me!
This was yesterdays sky...today it's a rainy and snowy dark sky.

Who's there

Guinea something good to eat!!!

A Little Repetition and Some Berries

I guess this just seems to be the theme around here lately...beautiful (afternoon) skies... and satellite potatoes. For a little added interest I thought I would post these Hawthorn berries for Steve at http://shootingmyuniverse.blogspot.com/This was taken on Oct 29 during our first snow.

Shopping Amish Style

I couldn't resist stopping to capture this horse and buggy parked at Lowe's.I took one shot and this fellow, dressed in red, looked at me, tipped his head to say hello,
and went back to being a patient servant.

Eve's Fable

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and wonder "what in the world am I going to post today! This morning was a perfect example and I was just out of ideas. I didn't have any recent pictures that I felt would be interesting. Then...
I turned around.I went outside and turned around again. I went in the yard...and then turned around again. and when I turned around again...it was all over!
Moral of the story....
When you're not sure what to do next,
Turn around!

How to use Guinea feathers....

My Guineas give me the most beautiful feathers each and every day. What a wonderful gift! These feathers are starting to show up all over my house now and I may have to re-think my whole interior design! My cousin Julie's husband Bill made this beautiful shelf that they sent me home with from Maine. What a perfect way to dress up such a beautiful piece!

Nap Time

Last week was just beautiful. Temps warm enough to ride. I wish I had taken more of an opportunity but sometimes there are just too many things to do and I spent most of my time working indoors. I did, however, get out on the bike on Tuesday for a little bit and Saturday we washed the bikes getting them ready for their winter nap. So I've come full circle this year, and looking back I had a few very memorable rides! Til Spring my friend!

Different Perspective!

My new friend Steve http://shootingmyuniverse.blogspot.com/2008/11/portland-head-light.html posted beautiful pictures of the Portland Head Light and I was thrilled to see that! I had just taken pictures of it this summer, and from where he was standing....I had taken a photograph in that direction! Steve, I'm guessing you were standing about where that fellow is painting his picture! The picture above was taken with my Canon 5D. The battery was low so I took the top and this bottom picture with my Canon G9, a small point and shoot with a big heart!

Yesterday morning...

Looks like this morning too!

The Visitor

Yesterday this little fella showed up on the trail, just minding his own business...Until Ole caught a glimpse. And after a fair verbal warning from him with no response... he decided to take matters into his own paws. This little cat really wasn't in that big of a hurry... he really didn't even have to go very far. (Looking a little soft Ole!)All Ole really wanted was a cat free trail.

No cats were harmed in the filming of this post!!

It's probably a good thing the Guinea's didn't see him first!

American Robin

There are some groups of Robins that actually winter here in the North Country but this morning this fellow looks as if he is facing the right direction for warmer climates.

Evening Sky

Not too much going on around here, so thought I would post last nights view.
